Flybook V5 Window Experience Index: 3.1

Rob, a fellow V5 owner, made a comment (on my Second Life post) regarding the Flybook’s very business-issue on-board video.

My Flybook V5’s Windows Experience Index” (as found at Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System) is a 3.1.

The rating reflects the lowest score of any single component (each rated on a scale from 1 to 5.9). The component breakdown for the V5 is:

Processor: 4.2
Memory: 4.4
Graphics: 3.1
Gaming Graphics: 3.1
Primary hard disk: 3.7

So you can see that it is the graphics component that pulls the lowest score.

For comparison, my desktop PC, with an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS card with 512MB RAM, has a Graphics score of 4.4 and a Gaming graphics score of 4.1.

  1. Can the V5 memory be upgraded by user ?

  2. It is my understanding that the unit cannot be upgraded by the user without breaking the warranty. With luck, someone from Dialogue will respond to this.

  3. Hi! The memory on these little wonders unfortunately cannot be ugraded in the field. It must be done by either Dialogue or an authorized service partner.

I hope that doesnt make anyone feel unhappy! We pack a lot of power into these little jewels so it makes it hard to provide ease of user service.

If you are interested in upgrading your Flybook system, you can contact us directly at 1-888-FLY-5525 and we can either forward you to an authorized reseller or send you a box to ship it to us.

    Thanks!
