Information from the Dialogue.com.tw Member’s Club download section. I set up this page to keep track of current driver versions as it appears they sometimes update the version number without changing the date. I’ll try to check in on the site once a week or so, but if I miss something, please post a comment.

Update: Per a blog posting, the new V5s are coming with an even newer EC BIOS (ver 1.63) that disables WWAN and WLAN in tablet mode and for which there is not (to date) a work around. The BIOS version on the Dialogue website is still showing the old 2007-12-10 date (but that doesn’t mean they haven’t changed it; that has happened before).
great job.thank you
I am currently in the negotiating stages of getting one of the latest V5’s (gold). I have been assured by Dialogue corporate that I am talking to that the issue with WWAN and WLAN being disabled in tablet mode has been corrected. When I finally get my unit I will confirm BIOS and functionality here.
lxgeek, that would certainly be great news… please *do* keep us informed!
I’m still working on getting my V5. Out of curiosity I browsed over to the dialogue.com.tw site and noticed that there is a new version of the Flybook Utility posted, 2.4.0.40.
Notes say “add disable GSM850 in tablet mode (for FCC region).”
I don’t think I like the sound of that.
Just checked the site, and the posted date has been updated to yesterday (2008/09/11) but the file listed is still the same 2.4.0.33 version, so I’m guessing they changed it back some time after you saw it there.
I agree, though… it doesn’t sound good.
Yes, it looks like they did flip back to the previous version. I also notice that (as I am looking right now anyway) they have a new EC/BIOS version 1.77 dated 8/25/08.
I just bought the new [maybe not so new] FlyBook V5 .. Jan 2009. I can’t find any real FlyBook websites. I found the one where I registered. This one .. and that is it. I somehow managed to delete the PenMount Utility. I don’t know if it is something I need .. but what I really need is a place to discuss .. Is there one ??
Diane, there isn’t a Flybook-supported site for users. I started this blog back in October ‘07 (when I bought *my* new V5) for that very reason.
The penmount utility is for calibrating your touch-screen (so that when you click on a button you actually hit the button). I used it when I first set up the machine and have never used it since, so unless you need it…
the dialogue.com.tw website has a Member’s section where you can register your machine and submit support questions. I’ve heard recently, however, that people aren’t getting responded to in a timely fashion.
Feel free to post questions here and I’ll see what I can do (or hopefully someone else will chime in).
Help – my V33 hard drive died and and manual does not
cover its replacement
1) Does the flybook use a stabdard laptop drive or something special?
2) Has anyone ever replaced the drive and is willing to share how
The V33 uses a standard IDE (PATA) 2.5″ drive. The replacement procedure is documented in the manual. To remove the drive you have to remove the keyboard to remove a single screw. Then you can pull the drive out (carefully) on the right hand side. See page 46 in http://www.flybook.com.tw/upload/e_web/v3-um-en.pdf. Please note that it is not really necessary to remove the keyboard completely, you can access the screw by tipping the keyboard.
