The V5 doesn’t have a CD or DVD drive. If you don’t have an external drive, it becomes more difficult to run the BIOS updates (which come as ~24MB .iso file). The V5 does allow you to boot from USB Key (flash drive), but I’m not sure how to get from point A to point B regarding making a bootable Flash Drive with the .iso file. Has anyone done it? Please chime in!
A utility called UNetbootin looks like it would work. It was designed for installing Linux I think, but appears to allow for distribution of other things.
Installing Other Distributions Using UNetbootin
Download and run UNetbootin, then supply it with the appropriate floppy/hard disk image, ISO (CD image) file, or kernel and initrd files when prompted
Again, has anyone done this? Or have alternative suggestions?

Hi,
are about 2 years that I’m searching for a CMOS/BIOS battery for the flybook V5 that has a very small white connector. Does anyone know where I can find this kind of battery?
Thx in advance
Your problem is quite easy to solve…
Take a new buttoncell battery with the correct specification. Thought it’s a single CR2032 buttoncell, but i’m not sure. Then remove the wire from the old battery and attache it to the new one.
You can try to do that by using a soldering iron, but it might not get hot enough fast enough to make a proper, permanent fix. If that’s the case, then i would suggest using a more advanced soldering device with adjustable temperature (current) control. That will do the job for sure.
Heat up the wire, while heating metal housing quickly and then add solderingwire to it. Be sure both the wire and the casing are hot when you start adding the solderwire. But try nog to put too much heat in the object, that might destroy the battery. Prevent the battery from heating up all through and through. So you’ll have to act quick and you better be successfull rightaway the first time. Maybe wearing (safety) glasses is a good idea.
Or go to any electro-repairshop and ask a professional to remove and fix the wire for you. I guess, probably… he’s done within 2 or 3 minutes or so. Good luck.

Looks like my reply will not be posted. So once again without links (if this is the problem).
You need a CR1220 CMOS battery and with a socket holder you can fix it in the flybook. Try it on the bay with “CR1220 Button Computer Battery Socket Holder Case”
A little disassembled guid you can find via google and “I disassembled my V5 with help from hdbueller”.
Good luck
