AT&T SIM Card

I had someone ask me recently about the AT&T SIM card that goes into a slot in the battery compartment of the Flybook V5. I went to a local AT&T store to pick mine up, but I believe you can actually order the SIM over the phone and then call to activate it once you [...]

Exploring the keyboard

I have to admit, once I start doing things one way, I rarely break the pattern… when I want the system to sleep, I go to Start Menu, click the right-arrow icon to get the pop-up menu, and select Sleep. I never think to do the [Fn]-[F3] combination. I’m going to try to start training myself to [...]

I’m Number One!

My unit was the first to be serviced at the new Memphis, Tennessee facility. Weee.
Number Two is already lined up behind it.
By the way, the 24-hour in-shop turn-around is going to be their standard service. As long as they have the parts in stock (they’ll discuss this with you before you send it in), you can [...]

Updated Flybook V5 Specs

Love my V5, love it, love it… but… those of you considering purchasing one now, may get a little bit sweeter deal. The latest V5s off the assembly line have the Intel® Core 2 Duo® ULV U7600 chip (mine is only a Core Duo). According to Dialogue in Memphis, the new units also come with a new, [...]

My Flybook is back in the fold

Yep, received the unit back this morning. Really quick turn-around. Needless to say, I gingerly used the battery lock to open up the unit and reinsert my SIM. Seems to be working just fine, however.
The keyboard feels different. I assume they did have to take the unit all apart in order to fix the battery [...]

Missing it already

Wow, have to say it is amazing how quickly I became accustomed to having the net just a few minutes away. Can’t tell you how many times today I’ve reached down for it. Sigh. Tracked my package via FedEx – it arrived in Memphis at 10:37 this morning.

What to do… what to do…

In the last two days I have had three different comments placed on my blog that are personally attacking someone associated with Dialogue. That is not the intent of my blog and I would like to keep things on track – discussing your experiences with the Flybook V5. These posts put me in a very tenuous [...]

A Sad Goodbye! or “Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s Off to Service We Go”

Well, I packed the Flybook up and shipped it off to the new service center in Memphis, Tennessee. Sniff. (Actually, hordes of tears – the puppy cost $76 to Fed-ex it overnight with $3K declared value). Those of you familiar with the tale can skip the following explanation. When I first received the V5, the [...]

Upgradeable to 7.2Mbps

“Connectivity via GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA modules allows connection speeds up to 3.6Mbps (upgradeable to 7.2Mbps).” That’s what it says in a press release on the Flybook.com website. Wow, wouldn’t it be great if 7.2Mbps was available in the U.S.??? Sigh. I know, I know, patience is a virtue (not, as it happens, one of mine).
