11:24am and 27 people have found the Flyblog today by entering “digitalperson.com” into a search engine. That was the spam text I received on the Flybook that prompted me to have AT&T shut down texting on my account (vs. my paying $0.15 a piece for this junk). See post: Some notes on AT&T Dataconnect Plan [...]

Best ever download results (and this while OneCare was defragging the hard drive). It seems like every time I test I get a better result – I like the way this is heading!
Routine gripe about how Plano, TX is “~50 miles” from Indianapolis. For whatever reason, it is Speedtest.net’s “recommended” site to use when I’m testing [...]

I’m looking for connectivity specifics… did you do an International Roam option through AT&T? Did you buy a SIM through a European agency? How were speeds? Coverage? What did it end up costing you?

I took the Flybook off the charger yesterday morning before leaving the house (unit had been on charger all night), but then decided against taking it with me. When I opened it up this morning (24 hours later), battery was at 73%. In a 24-hour period, without any wireless options turned on, 27% of the [...]

The Flybook V5 has the Sierra Wireless MC8775V embedded module (this is what gives us cellular connectivity).
If you look at the Sierra Wireless data sheet for this module, the last bullet under the “Powerful HSDPA Engines” heading is:
Supports GPS
Tiny little text, but a whole lot of potential; it means GPS service on the Flybook without a separate dongle [...]

With the most recent BIOS upgrade, when the V5 is in tablet mode, WLAN and WWAN (cellular) transmissions are disabled.
Let me just qualify the following with the fact that I have no idea what I am talking about. I have no real knowledge of radiation, the FCC, or how tablets are made.
Warning… “Geek Speak” Initiated
The FCC required that the [...]

On January 31st, I created a blog entry entitled “Thoughts, Suggestions, and Requests for a re-design of Flybook’s Support section?” At the request of Roland Pinto (CEO of Dialogue Technology USA Corporation) – see his comment on the Confusion of Flybook Websites post from a few days ago -, I’m opening that up to Thoughts, Suggestions, and Requests about [...]

Last month, when I received my AT&T bill, I saw that there was a $0.15 charge for a text message I had received. I looked on 3G Watcher and sure enough, there was a text message there:
From 36245 Hines@digitalperson.com(h)Want a d.a.t.e for 2night visit: *(www.itlooksdecenteno.com)).
Side note: 3GWatcher keeps the SMS messages in a log. For [...]

On Feb 3rd I posted about getting a Vitakey “complete authentification process” message. I’m not getting it quite as frequently as I did for a few days in the early part of the month (I registered another digit on one hand which seemed to get rid of it for a while), but it is still cropping up [...]
