I have to admit, my blog only serves a very small niche market. So when 32 people found the Flyblog during the last week by using either “pwdbank” or “vitakey” in a search, I think it’s pointing out that there is an issue. Especially when you compare it to the 31 people who found the blog using “flybook” as a search term.
I myself have had a rough time with the Vitakey fingerprint software. Not with reading the fingerprint – that actually works pretty well (and doesn’t work when I do it sloppily, which makes me feel more comfortable than if it worked all the time). What I’ve experienced odd issues with is the password-keeping part of the software – either not popping up when I have something saved in the password bank, or not popping up when I enter a new password (thereby not allowing me to add it to the bank).
Vitakey…if you stumple on my blog, take note - this is something you might want to be looking into.
Otherwise… am I locked into Vitakey? Are there other options that would work with the Flybook’s fingerprint reader?

Hmm – I have a tabletkiosk slate that uses vitakey and the pwdbank.exe is a pain for me too (have it turned off now)
It just isn’t stable. I can’t figure out any consistency in why it fails when it fails.
Hi.. I’m using the Vitakey fingerprint file protection.. i protected some of my important files. after 3 wks when i tried to access the files the software said “invalid protection key” even after my fingerprint was accepted..! I’m using the Truesuite Access Manager Software in my Toshiba Portege M700..
You might try contacting Egistec (the makers of Vitakey) directly. I haven’t ever had that specific problem.
Hi!
Just informing that VitaKey (5.0.0.8) doesn’t work with IE8 – not even after reinstalling VitaKey!
Dialogue doesn’t care – I mailed them months ago.

Aha… I hadn’t put that together, but that may well be why I had to eventually give up on Vitakey. Sigh.
Hi there,
Vitakey5 now supports IE8!
You can download the new version from below link.
http://www.egistec.com/download/index.html
Please remember to extract your previous protected files before installing the new version. (New version doesn’t support file protection/encryption)

I have the same issues with Toshiba M700 and password protection. It messes badly with all internet acceses and computer, even under IE7 and crashes with IE8. But it is also messing with other programs in the computer and blocks them.
However, it seems that things are worse since the Windows Vista Service Pack 1. A shame… Thanks to Flybook for this reference.
Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog.
Cheers! Sandra. R.
